I’ve resisted posting too much about Talus on the one-year anniversary of his passing. But since a few of you asked, here’s the poem I wrote the night of his death.
Go Talus Go!! To the Stars!!
Don’t dally, go, go go!!
Worry not about us here
Down on the ground below!
Good boy, Talus! Soar away, soar!
Let your doggie spirit fly,
It’s all yours to explore! Yip, bark,
Cheer and prance, forevermore!
Fly, Talus, fly! Free and light,
Dash away clear and bright;
Again, you are strong and free,
Bound into the beauty of starry, endless nights.
Atta boy! Way to go!
Now you’re on your way!
My heart is all there with you–
Though I wish that you could stay.
Straight ahead, my noble friend,
Go, go, go!! No time to waste!
The unknown, far beyond awaits,
Get going and make haste!
So soar Talus, soar! That’s the way!!
To the place all great dogs go;
Worry not about us here
Still on the ground below.
